Soulfull Machines

Humanoid Robot named Sophia, and Grace developed by Hansen robotics are considered the most human like robots to date. Sophia is known to capture the human emotions and respond with the most apt response similar to a empathetic human would. The sentiment analysis technique of this robot is unmatchable.

Sophia's ML model is trained to look after elderly people and even can manage crowds. Grace is more trained for psychological support to isolated people. she helped suicide prone individuals during covid 19 pandemic. With all this promising data, it sounds robotic machines working in or homes , hospitals, schools, baby-sitting, dog-sitting is very much reality in immediate future.

Yet, the artificial intelligence that mimics human intelligence is way premature, Just a thought of a robot working next to you or a fear that the programmed AI model of the robot, may get hyper tuned and would go savage,, may sound dramatic or comic but daunting and scary enough to demotivate the acceptance.

Boston dynamics known for their most advanced robots with human like motor control, often publish videos showing robots working along side construction workers, or helping in reforestation. Some of those even do soulful dance to the tune "Do you love me? The attempt is to make these machine look less scary and more funny.

But how can one miss a basic difference between human-like versus human ? Although I am not a too deep of a thinker, my grandparent's words on seeing the video on humanoid robot were, "But, She doesn't have genuine expressions or emotions" made me think, well, that summed it up!
